An undercover reporter, who works on a freelance basis for this newspaper, told us, “The evening started normally with the usual meet and greet, everyone was chatting about how the group has progressed over the last year or so.”
“But once the topic changed to who should wear the CF crown, things started hotting up. One attendee began banging his fist on the table and ordering excessive amounts of naan bread which displeased the other guests.”
This newspaper has so far established that at least five candidates are on the verge of formally announcing their bid to become the next National Chairman of Conservative Future. The last election saw current Chair Michael Rock in a head-to-head battle with CF heavyweight Daryl Williams, which created a tremendous amount of debate and discussion.
Our source went on, “It was clear that by the end of the evening he was going to go for it and the others were up for backing him. With his wealth of connections across the north of England and some support in London, he stands a good chance of sealing the deal.”
The race for the job of National Chairman is well known for it’s bitterness and rivalry and already other news outlets have allowed the smear campaign to begin. The National Chairman all too often comes under tremendous pressure when dealing with PR disasters such as one Tory alleging northern racism.
“There’s a few other candidates making moves and raising funds for the campaign, but they won’t see this one coming,” he concluded.
